From a flea market table to Earthforged.

Earthforged began with Mark’s longtime fascination with crystals and minerals. What started on the side at the Limestone Flea Market — wire wrapping stones and sharing unique finds — gradually grew into something much bigger.

Over time, the collection expanded from handcrafted pieces into crystals, minerals, fossils, gemstones, rare specimens, and treasures sourced from around the world. Eventually, that small side venture became the full Earthforged Rock Shop you can explore today.

The shop has grown considerably, but the curiosity and passion that started it all have never really changed.

Many of the minerals and specimens are sourced directly from mines and suppliers, giving Earthforged access to unusual pieces, limited finds, and material that may never make it into an ordinary retail shop.

MEET THE PEOPLE BEHIND EARTHFORGED

Curiosity turned into a rock shop. 

Earthforged grew from a shared fascination with minerals, crystals, fossils, and the stories hidden inside the Earth. What began small has grown into a Huntsville destination filled with specimens, handmade work, and discoveries from around the world.

    Mark’s love of crystals and minerals eventually led him away from a career at NASA and toward something completely different. He began selling wire-wrapped stones at the Limestone Flea Market, and over time that small venture grew into Earthforged. More than three decades later, he still brings the same collector’s curiosity to sourcing minerals, rare specimens, and unusual finds.

  •  MaCayla Sampson

    MaCayla’s fascination with stones began when she was about eight years old, after finding a large rock and cracking it open to discover amethyst inside. That sense of wonder never left. Today, she brings that same curiosity and appreciation for the natural world into Earthforged.

HOW EARTHFORGED GREW

From a small side venture to a place built for discovery. 

What began with wire-wrapped stones and a small flea-market setup gradually expanded into a much larger collection of minerals, crystals, fossils, gemstones, rough material, jewelry, and collector specimens.

As Earthforged grew, so did its reach. The shop began sourcing material from mines and suppliers around the world, adding lapidary work, custom pieces, geodes, and increasingly unusual specimens along the way.

Today, Earthforged is still evolving — but the idea behind it remains the same: create a place where people can slow down, explore, learn, and discover something they didn’t expect.
